THE PHOENIX is a large red and blue heavily armed supersonic plane with G-5 on it's wing, capable of underwater and space travel. It has a powerful ability to transform into the legendary Fiery Phoenix to escape extreme dangers or attack. It aired in the U.S in 1978 as "Battle of the Planets/G-Force". As a kid I couldn't wait to come home from school to watch it...the best anime EVER! Originally it was titled "Gatchaman" in Japan from 1972 to 1974. That's what the "G" represents.
