THE PHOENIX is a heavily armed, red and blue supersonic aircraft capable of both deep-sea submergence and interstellar travel. Bearing the "G-5" insignia on its wing, the vessel possesses the extraordinary ability to transmutate into a fiery phoenix configuration for offensive strikes or emergency evasion. The "G" honors its original Japanese title, "Gatchaman" (1972–1974). The iconic craft later captivated Western audiences when the series was localized in 1978 under the titles "Battle of the Planets" / "G-Force".
